Design Notes for: "4"

Sammary Studios, a small home-run operation in Melrose Park, puts out compilations as a way to promote their business and local independent musicians. This was the fourth such compilation, hence the name "4".

Other than the photos for Jason Kluss, John Michaels, and NatureDevil; the images of the artists were provided to me by them. This created an interesting challenge as I was presented with images of varying quality and levels of preprocessing. The collage on the outside cover conveys the true eclectic nature of this compilation.

The inside artwork is simply a continuation of the collage theme with all of the artists lined up in roughly the same order as they appear on the CD. The back of the cover is another "4" with the names of the artists repeated to fill the space.

The CD is another number "4", this time enlarged to the point that it almost becomes an abstract field of color.
