Design Notes for: No Fear In Me
Client: Jason Kluss
Project: Photography and Graphic Design
Release Year: 2005
A local artist and independent musician, Mr. Kluss wanted a realistic feel to his artwork. Based solely of simply manipulated photographs, this album was to convey a simple, no-nonsense, here-I-am feeling. The name "No Fear in Me" is a line from one of Mr. Kluss' songs and was chosen by the artist.
The cover is simply the artist standing on a Chicago street. The idea to not have him completely in the shot was to give an impression of the artists sense of humor, unpredictability and boldness.
All of the photographs were taken by me and compiled for this album. The CD artwork and the back cover are also manipulated photos. The CD artwork is actually a shot of the artist. The image was cropped, filtered, and inverted until it looks abstract and only on close examination can you tell that it is in fact someone playing guitar. The back image is actually a part of the front image, the blurry street lights in the background inverted and filtered.
Many of the shots taken for the album but not used were incorporated into Mr. Kluss' website. The theme of blue was chosen as it is the artists' favorite color.
